Merry Christmas

On behalf of all the employees at Leading Edge Credit Union, I would like to thank our members and supporters for another great year! Working this time of year is especially rewarding. The atmosphere in the branches are filled with joy as members alike bring Christmas greetings and stories of how they plan to celebrate Christmas. Candies and treats are a plenty as people acknowledge their appreciation of the employees by dropping off goodies. Christmas also provides that opportunity to socialize more and break traditional work routines which is always welcomed.

I would like to thank the membership for completing our online survey and acknowledging their overall satisfaction with Leading Edge Credit Union at 96%. This is a wonderful indication that we are meeting the expectations and needs of our membership. In response to a continuous high member satisfaction ranking, a decision was made to close the branches on Christmas Eve, allowing the employees to be with their families. The response from our membership has been extremely positive and again we thank you for your support in this decision.

On Behalf of all employees and board members, have a Merry Christmas and New Year!

Co-operatively Yours,

Cory Munden

I am disappointed to see no reference to Christmas on the CU home page......just Seasons Greetings and Happy Holidays.

While I understand this may be politically correct, it ignores the vast nuumber of us who have celebrated Christmas our entire lifetime, and the Christian tradition we in North America have celebrated for centuries.

We, too, are CU members and our beliefs should also be recognized by those serving us.

It frustrates, and quite frankly, angers me to see the reference of Happy Holidays being applied to this Special Occasion.

While I see nothing wrong with recognizing the beliefs and traditions of others, I am quite adamant that others should respect the traditions and beliefs of me, and others like me, as well.

It is my feeling that the CU should honour the long-standing traditions of this country and not be involved in what is just politically correct.

THERE, I've said my piece, and all is well.

Thank you Ed for your comments and your points are very valid. I am confident that this was not intentional as this Credit Union practices certainly practices Christmas traditions. Our staff forfeited the practice of giving gifts to each other in the office with a monetary donation to a local family in need. We have spearheaded the collection of food bank items and shared time slots with the local Salvation Army church at their collection stations. We have erected Christmas trees in all our branches and most recently provided our staff with Christmas Eve off so they can attend services, spend time with their family or volunteer. I can also say with confidence that our Credit Union does not engage in social responsibility items because its politically correct. We do it because its our culture and we want people to work with this organization that have these beliefs and showcase them in their behaviors.
